Iliasis needs protection

The paint mare, iliasis stood at the top of the hill, she sighed watching a shooting star go across the sky. Her mate had died less than a weeks ago and she was 9 months pregnant with his foal. The last thing she had left in the world, she looked around hoping to see him, but she knew in her heart that he was gone forever. The mare herself was brave and strong, how ever when you are 9 months pregnant it can make thing a bit more difficult. She had lost a lot of weight, but she was so depressed she had not noticed.

She sighed again looking up to the stars.

Violet~
I see a pregnant mare and walk over to her. i was pregnant also, but that didnt mean i couldnt be strong and protective. I was bred by a forcer and this was my first pregnancy. They all under-estimated me......bad mistake ...... i was still young, so i was as strong as ever. i killed almost every one of them that tried to force me, but this time i wasnt so lucky. He got away just in time..... i shook my head and looked at the mare. "are you here alone? if you are, i could stay and protect you" i say, glancing at her round belly, then mine.

Iliasis turned her head to the mare, she smiled and said " Not for long, and I could do with some company.." she noticed the mare was also pregnant " Is it your first..? " She was only a few months away from giving birth..but it was not her first foal..

"yes" i frown at my huge belly "is this your first?"

She gave a caring smile to the mare and replied " No my second.." She turned to the mare so she was facing her. " My mate was killed a few days ago, by another stallion, he wanted me.." she lowered her head..." I ran, like he told me to..." she cried " I should have stayed.." she buckled onto her knees

"its okay, your mate wanted you to be safe, you might have been killed too if u wouldnt have ran..." i sigh, wishing i could do something, but i couldnt

Iliasis looked the mare again, feeling slight comfort from her kind words. She managed to heave herself onto her feet and shake off the dirt that had gathered on her coat.

It had been a few months later, and my stomach was so large i could barely move. "I think both our babies should be coming soon" i said, then winced in pain as i felt it kick

Iliasis looked at her own stomach and said " Mine will arrive within the next week.." she nuzzled her belly and said to the other mare " Go and bathe in the lake, it'll soothe your stomach.." She had become close to the mare and did not like to leave her side, so she would stand maybe a few lengths behind or infront of her.
