Gilraen sighed and turned on her side, not truly believing Caldrion. Something about the whole experience had definately changed their relationship, and she wasn't about to say it was for the better. Gilraen ignored the fact that the fawn had found them, though she was happy for Caldrion. She stared out the window forlornly, replaying all that had happened in the time they were captured. Gilraen sighed and faded into herself, becoming completely unaware of anything else around her.

I return to the bed, shutting the door behind them. "You know when I was paralized, I wasent enjoying it. I was trying to talk to you." I say, almost able to read her thoughts.

Gilraen was startled by his sudden comment. She turned her head and looked at him before opening her mouth to reply, "I--" she didn't bother to finish her sentence, and instead, she turned back and looked out the window. Gilraen remained quiet for another few minutes before saying, "What has changed, Caldrion? We're not the same anymore. What happened?"

What had happened? I was puzzled. Nothing had happened between us, as far as I knew. I sit down and rub her shoulder. "What do you mean?" I ask concerned about her. Concerned about us.

Gilraen felt his touch on her shoulder, and almost turned to look at him, but refrained from it. She could hear the concern in his voice, but somehow she managed to not let it get to her. "I mean what happened to the feeling? Ever since..." she paused a moment, faltering on the memories, "Ever since we were tricked into creating Elendril. It's been different." Now Gilraen turned to look at him. "I don't like it, Caldrion. I want things to go back to the way they were before any of this happened." She sighed and a tear trickled down on the opposite side of her cheek, where he couldn't see.

"What were they like before?" I asked, not really knowing what had changed. "I want us to love eachother, and to never leave. To raise these boys to manhood, to die in eachothers arms."

"It just seemed..... so.... right.." Gilraen commented, dropping her gaze away from his eyes solomnly. "Now... it seems stiff." Gilraen sat up in bed and threw her arms around his neck, burrying her face on his shoulder. "It's different now." She whispered quietly and hugged him closer. Gilraen loved him so dearly, but it seemed that the feelings had gone away. Gilraen bit her lip, although one stray tear managed to make its way down her cheek and onto the fabric of his shirt.

"How?" I wondered. I felt the same love for her now, maybe even more. I stiffend as the thought dawned on me. Maybe she didnt love me anymore. Maybe she wanted to forget the whole thing.

Gilraen felt him stiffen, and she sniffed, sitting up and looking at him in the eyes, a quizical look on her face. She wiped her eyes dry and then looked at him once more before asking, "What is it?"

My lips pursed. "Is it because you dont love me anymore?" I asked, voice dry and without emotion. I stared into her eyes, face hard and unmoving. I thought about what it would be like without her, and inwardly my heart welled up, though my face stayed the same.

Gilraen's mouth dropped open slightly and her hands slid down from around his neck. She searched his eyes desperately but found no trace of emotions. "Caldrion, why would you ever say that? How could you ever think that?" She whispered, her own eyes portraying hurt and loss. She turned her head and looked out the window, pulling her knees to her chest and wrapping her arms around them. "I couldn't live without you..." she murmured, her heart shattered that he would even think that was the case. "I just feel violated..." she mouthed, burrying her face in her knees.

I sigh, turning her back to me, my face filled with the emotions I had been keeping welled up inside. Hurt, anger, loss, fear, love. "I love you, you do know that?" I ask, gently tilting her head towards mine and meeting her in a soft kiss.

Gilraen saw the emotions splayed across Caldrion's face and was slightly reassured. Maybe....he did care about her. His words only reassured her of this, and she returned the kiss with unwavering love. Gilraen was still scared of what had happened. She didn't know why, but she didn't want to go through it ever again. Gilraen looked at Caldrion and repositioned herself so she sat beside her, her head resting on his shoulder, and whispered, "I love you, too."

I smile through the kiss, reasurred by her emotions. I didnt think anything had changed, but that was my opinion. The babies were alseep in thier cradel, the fire cracking and poping as the logs caught fire and burned with a beautiful orange glow.

Gilraen sighed happily and moved her head to his lap and looked up at him and twirled a piece of his starlight blonde hair around her index finger and chuckled slightly, thinking about how she had still neglected to cut his hair, but she didn't really care anymore. Gilraen placed her hand on top of his and sighed happily. "I'm glad we're out of there," she muttered softly.

"So am I." I say, and thought about how long either of them would have survived. Not long, was his guess, as he would have refused to impregnant any other elves, and she would die from labor.

Gilraen sighed happily and is if reading her thoughts, she looked towards the crib at the two children. Gilraen sighed. She was never going to go through childbirth again -- that much she knew. No matter how long she lived, she would not. Elendril began crying, and Gilraen heaved herself off the bed and went to the crib, picking him up and cradling him in her arms speaking softly, "Shh, shh, baby. It's all right. Momma's here," she kissed his forehead gently.

I almost wanted to have a child with her again, sometime where the pregnancy wasent forced, and nine months later she would delver. Not fifteen or twenty minutes. I sighed as she got up, cradling the crying baby with her arms. I think about all of the other elves still stuck there, and my heart skips a beat. What if my mother was there?

Gilraen cringed as Elendril's crying sparked a crying fit in Valandril, and she moaned slightly, picking up the other child in her other arm and rocked the two back and forth, walking over to the bed again. She noticed that Caldrion was looking a bit worried. "What is it, honey?" Gilraen asked, still rocking the two children in her arms.

I take Elendril from her arms, a bit reluctant to sooth the child of a rapist. I rock him back and forth, and make a funny face, his lips parting in a happy smile. I look up at Gilraen, my eyes now serious. "I think my mother might be in there." I say, then realize what had to be done. I would have to go back. Again.

Gilraen looked up at him and smiled at his fatherly instincts. Gilraen sighed and looked at Valandril, wondering how much longer she'd be able to care for this child, considering it was the child she had been forced to bare, and it wasn't even Caldrion's. Gilraen sucked in a breath when she listened to Caldrion, and knew immediately what he was planning on doing. "Caldrion, it's too dangerous..." but she fell silent. It was his mother, for God's sake! She changed the course in the conversation by saying, "If you're going back, I'm coming with you."

"No." I say firmly. I would not have her there again! "I will go, and come back with or without my family, depending on who is there." I say, my eyes flitting to the door. "I need you to stay here- to take care of the family." I say, and give her back the baby, not able to look at the other child. I couldnt, at least not yet.

Gilraen's expression hardened as se placed the boys back in their crib. "That's what I plan to do," she said solemnly. "And you are part of that family. I love you too much to se you go back there. Is Valandril not enough proof for you? I would do anything for you, Caldrion, and after I did that you expect me to stand idly like a helpless female? I'm capable of doing just as much as you are!" Gilraen turned away from him, allowing her rage to cool. "I love you too much to risk losing you," she whispered, not knowing if he could hear.

"Exactly. I love you, and will not let you come with me." Lightning flashed across the sky, and in a minute, rain started to pour down, pelting the windows with hard spatters of water. The fire sputters a bit as rain falls into the chimney, making the fire steam. With a burst of magic, I relight the fire, so it burned hot and bright again.

"Fine," she whispered hoarsely. "But I have one question." Gilraen bit her lip before turning around to look at Caldrion. "Why did you save him? Valandril, i mean. I know how you feel towards him. So why?" Gilraen took her seat on the edge of the bed and looked him in the eyes, expecting a completely serious answer.
