Sinking Fast Towards The End(Freesia) [M] Empty Sinking Fast Towards The End(Freesia) [M]

Shining red eyes glowed in the darkness, teeth glinting as lips peeled backward into a snarl. The moonlight reflected off the metal spikes sitting upon a black leather collar. A growl echoed in the night and the black and red she-wolf stepped forward. Once, twice, a third time. Then she leapt into the air, pouncing upon a young doe. She startled it and it kicked into the air, trying to throw the wolf off her back. However, the small looking wolf kept a hold until the poor animal exhausted itself and collapsed to the ground, where the wolf gave it a quick death before digging in and enjoying her feast. Her large black and red ears twitched at every sound, the moonlight glinting off her piercings. Her stomach quickly became full and she took a few steps back and sat down. Having a small appetite was good sometimes, but also bad. But at least she would have some food for a while now. She listened carefully, keeping an ear out for any predators wanting her meal. However, after an hour of guarding and nothing showing up, the small she-wolf laid down, nipped ever so lightly at the leg warmers she wore upon her front legs and nudged the bangles near her paw before she fell into a light sleep.

She woke with a start in the morning at the sound of something helping itself to her kill. She spun around, lips peeled back into a snarl and red eyes blazing. An outline of a wolf was gorging into her deer. She growled louder, catching his attention before she lunged at him, leaping over the dead doe and tackling the brute to the ground. She had caught him by surprise and he easily lost his balance. She snapped at his throat and glared down at him. He yelped in surprise before shoving her off of him and racing off into the tree line. She knew he wasn’t scared of her, she had smelt no fear. He was caught off guard and startled. The she-wolf huffed a snort and she sat down for a minute, waiting to see if he came back. When he didn’t, she turned around and had some more food. What was left of it, anyway. She growled to herself and her long tail swished in annoyance. She raised her head and licked her lips, wanting some water. However, she could not smell any in the area. She glanced down at her kill for a moment before she walked away from it, leaving it to scavengers to pick at.

Soon enough, she came across some water. It was a thin, shallow creek but it was still water. She lowered her head and lapped at the water. The cool water slid down her throat, soothing her thirst and ridding the sticky feeling she had in her mouth. Raising her head finally, she shook her head with a sigh before she walked off. The world was mostly dark to her. She could see outlines and shadows of colours but that was it. And she didn’t see everything, either. There were many times where she would run into things or trip over something. Even with heightened senses, she made mistakes. But she was used to the way she lived. She had been this way since she was little. Until that brute who smelt of decaying flesh and pine came into her life and murdered her family and took most of her sight. But then she had found Toma. Beautiful, generous Toma. He had made her life worth living. He had helped her through all the bad things. And eventually, they had become mates. But they never had the chance to create a pack, or a family. That rotten brute came back again and killed her love. Which sent her spiralling into the bitter depths of revenge.

Now her life revolved around finding that brute and taking him down. To avenge her beautiful Toma and her family. He would regret ruining her life. She would bring him down. Even if he killed her in process, she would make sure he died. He had to. She couldn’t die until she saw him take his last breath beneath her or another wolf’s jaws. She didn’t overly care if it was her that killed him, as long as she could watch him suffer in his final moments. Even if she couldn’t see it clearly. It may be a twisted thought, but that’s what she wanted and she would make sure she got it, too. Growling at her own thoughts, she took off into a run, followed the thin creek, staying basically right on top of it so she knew her path was clear. The picture or her Toma was in the forefront of her mind as she ran and hiding behind that thought was the mental picture of that brute suffering.

The small she-wolf soon came to a clearing and she slowed to a halt, sniffing the air to see if she could smell any wolves or predators that might try to jump her. She couldn’t see any. She stepped towards a small patch of trees near the middle of the clearing and she sat down in the shade and breathed in the fresh air, trying to clear her head, but it wasn’t doing much good. What was she going to do? She knew she was falling further into insanity, being driven even further into the darkness of revenge. She knew she wouldn’t have much longer until that’s all she ever thought about. She knew if that happened, she was as good as dead. She knew she needed help, but she was an untrusting she-wolf. She didn’t let anyone close to her. She snapped her teeth at herself with a sigh. “My name is Rune,” she reminded herself quietly, almost as if she was afraid she might one day forget. The she-wolf huffed defensively at herself and shook her head with a soft whine, raising a paw, and pawing gently at her eyes.

Sinking Fast Towards the End

Arnou

Each footstep fell with a sense of finality, one step at a time leading the shaggy black and white wolf farther away from the places he's been, the rounded full moon shining through the tree tops the only witness to his slow journey. He walked slowly, meandering aimlessly through the shadowed forest. The blue-eyed brute had spent months traveling with no true destination in mind, following his body's instincts on when to turn and when to stop, when to hunt and when to sleep. He relied on little to no input from his mind or heart; some wild part of him had taken over, providing him the answers to the questions he need not voice, allowing him to easily find all the necessary commodities of survival with minimal effort. He let his body take over, no longer finding himself having to conform to the whims of somebody else's mind; he ran when he wanted to run, slept where he wanted to sleep, hunted whatever he wanted to hunt, and so on. When a thought or instinct or urge came over him, he didn't take time deliberating; he just acted, without a second thought. Perhaps it was harmful or dangerous to live the way he had these past few months- but then again, perhaps that very thought was what drove him to do so.

It was not an unusual thing, the wolf being up and about at this time. He preferred to travel at night; a small part of him, buried deep within the recesses of his mind, acknowledged that this fact was because he was avoiding the presence of others, but he dared not voice this thought aloud, he refused to even think it to himself, and the acknowledgment was quickly pushed away, swiping his mind blank once again, not wanting to think of anything.

So instead, he walked.

That simple action had become almost a ritual of his, a habit he had found easy to slip into. One large black and white paw after the other, an endless cycle in which he could lose himself for days at a time. It cleared his mind and relaxed his body in a way that seemed to detach the two; indeed, at times he felt more like he was floating than walking, an observer to a shadowy forest where a two-toned wolf meandered below. And then, with a sinking sensation, he was back in his body, seeing through his own eyes. A bird flitted from one branch to another here; two squirrels fought over an age-old acorn there; somewhere far off through the trees, a doe and her fawn warily approached the stream he walked alongside with. His mind a silent witness to the forest surroundings; his body a part of the natural cycle occurring.

Padding quietly along, he was vaguely aware of the trees thinning off to his side. Ears cocked forward, he made his way towards the clearing, pulling his rear forward to a sitting position once he got there. For a few minutes, the area was silent; but not long after, movement in the bushes beyond the tree line caught his attention.

Lifting his head up, he watched silently as a fae wolf made her way out slowly between the trees. Arnou waited, expecting the other wolf to see him and make the first move- after all, he had been there first. However, after a few moments of her not even acknowledging her presence, it became clear to the brute that she had no idea he was even there. For whatever reason, this knowledge amused him greatly. Lifting his nose upwards, he inhaled the air around him deeply. Her scent was heavy on the wind, blowing towards him, which must mean his own scent was blowing away from her. Though Arnou knew if the fae stayed in the clearing much longer, there would be no hiding his presence. Pulling his shaggy body forward into a standing position again, he shook his long coat from head to tail, every hair falling perfectly in its place. The she-wolf let out a low, high-pitched whine, one wrapped leg-and-paw lifting to rub at her eyes. Perhaps she was blind, after all?

Without thinking or second guessing his intentions, his mind searched back through months and months of memories, his tongue naturally performing the task he asked it to with familiar ease.

"Pardon me, Miss, but are you quite alright?" After so long without any contact with another wolf, the words felt heavy and thick, foreign, in a way, coming through his mouth, but something inside him just felt right.

OOC; Hope this is alright! Sorry for the wait, I had to jump up for something. :3
